Love is the foundation of our wellbeing. Last week we tapped into how loving your spirit helps to set the course for physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I often speak about holistic living because I believe wellness relates to the total person, meaning the spirit, soul, and body are interconnected. I can do everything in my ability to be physically fit but if I’m bitter and resentful towards someone, my emotional health suffers which, over time, can affect my physical health (blood pressure spike, inflammation) leading to a stroke or cardiovascular disease due to unnecessary stress hormones occupying space.
Loving your spirit gives you an identity. When you know who you are and Whose you are, settling isn’t an option. You deserve the best because you are worth it. When you see yourself as worthy, you don’t accept just anything, there is a standard that is set. That standard shapes how you love on yourself.
Holistically loving your body has layers. Today’s focus is on the physical contribution, but as mentioned above, your spirit, soul, and body are one and should be viewed as such for total wellness. What are some things you practice for physical health? Have you ever combined physical wellness with emotional wellness when trying to reach a weight goal? Below are some steps to help improve physical wellness as you love on yourself even more this month.
Movement: Set a goal for at least 2.5 hours of moderate activity (like brisk walking) or 1 hour of vigorous activity per week. Add strength training at least two days in a week.
Intentional Eating: Practice a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins. Minimize your intake of processed foods, added sugars, and sodium.
Prioritize Sleep: Ensure 7 - 9 hours of quality sleep nightly to allow for recovery.
Hydration: Drink adequate water and natural juices throughout the day to support bodily functions and remove toxins.
Preventive Health Care: Have regular medical checkups and screenings.
Manage Stress: Meditate, deep breathing, or journal to manage stress.
Cut Out Harmful Habits: No need for explanation…👀
