Immunity Gummies

Writer's picture: Beloved BelliesBeloved Bellies

Since we discussed how to keep our immune systems boosted last week, this week we're going to focus on our babies. If you're trying to get your children to partake in healthier snacking options in order to build up their immunity then this recipe is a hit! I love it because you can switch up the fruit juice options so they don't get bored when you try offering them these snacks in lieu of store bought friut snacks or gummy bears. Not only are these gummies packed with immunity boosting nutrients, they are also 100% vegan and so easy to make.

Ingredients:

-1 cup of freshly juiced apple/ginger mix (about 3 average sized apples and an inch of ginger root)

-2 tablespoons of elderberry sea moss

-2 teaspoons of Agar Agar powder

Equipment:

-juicer (I used a masticating juicer)

-silicone gummy mold

-dropper to dispense mixture

Combine juice, Agar Agar, and elderberry sea moss in a pot and heat on medium-high heat until nearly boiling. Turn down the heat and simmer for no more than 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and remove pan from burner to cool for about 5 minutes (be sure to keep an eye on the mixture so it does not begin to solidify). Using the dropper, fill the molds up and refigerate for about 30 minutes. Gummies can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 5-days, or in a freezer for no more than 3 months. Note: If you do not own a juicer then you can substitue using a 50/50 mixture of apple sauce and 100% pineapple juice.

Filling the molds also works well as an activity to engage your children in some family time, however half of the product will be consumed removing the gummies from the molds after they solifify. 😊💓
