2025 Goal: Better Eating Habits
Although I don’t consider myself to have horrible eating habits, there are certain areas that need improvement. With so many ailments being linked to bad food choices of course the flip side of that narrative is the fact that proper food choices then become the medicine for healing. One of my physical goals this year is to reduce my intake of processed foods and sea moss gel helps me accomplish this my suppressing my appetite as I tend to be a snacker.
I’ve discussed the benefits of sea moss in prior entries but have not really shared my personal experience with it, nor the testimonies of others who have added sea moss gel to their dietary routine. The benefits of sea moss gel include reducing inflammation and thyroid-related issues, relieving joint, skin and muscle pain, assisting with fungal, bacterial and viral infections, and acting as a decongestant by dissolving mucus due to its chlorophyll, Omega 3 fatty acids, and potassium chloride content. I’ve had numerous individuals share the appetite suppressant capabilities when taking sea moss gel first thing in the morning, and those walking in healing concerning lupus experiencing less flare ups and pain relief within a month of use. As for me, sea moss gel has done wonders for my skin internally and externally, it works as a moisturizing face and hair mask, it has alleviated menstrual cramping, and it boosts my energy levels before and after a workout.
Raw dried sea moss is usually not pre-rinsed before it's packaged. The first step in preparing your sea moss is to thoroughly rinse the salt and debris off using filtered water. By debris I mean anything that can attach itself to the moss while growing in the sea (seaweed, sand and seashells). Once rinsed it's ready to be soaked. I usually soak my sea moss in the refrigerator using alkaline water for no less than 18-hours, changing out the water about halfway through. During the soaking process you may add fresh lime or lemon juice/slices to the water. After soaking, pour off all the water and add the expanded sea moss to the blender. The instructions below cover plain sea moss gel as you can use it for topical application, however using fresh and natural juices (no sugars added) in place of water gives your sea moss gel an exotic advantage. Note, if you add natural juices the shelf life decreses from 4-6 weeks to 3-ish weeks.
