As we conclude the first half of non-invasive treatments for women’s health, we’re going to look at two procedures that are usually combined for maximum results: the O-Shot and Emsella.
The O-Shot is a slightly non-invasive procedure that typically takes about 30 minutes from prep to finish. The science behind this treatment is that it uses your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) containing growth factors to rejuvenate tissue and increase blood flow to the vaginal area by stimulating new cell production. This is not new technology by any means. PRP therapy has been used to treat joint pain, aid in the healing process from sports injuries, as well as stimulating hair growth with much success, so naturally using it on other body parts just makes sense. Your blood is drawn from your arm, spun down to the platelets containing proteins that encourage blood flow and build nerve ending response, and then the PRP is injected along the clitoris and g-spot. A cream-based numbing product is applied to the area before the injections. There is minimal risk with this procedure since the treatment re-injects your own platelet-derived growth factors. Most patients describe the experience as fast and relatively painless with no downtime, while some have reported a mild discomfort with the injections feeling like a slight pinch or warm sensation. The O-Shot helps urinary incontinence, restore moisture, ease dyspareunia, and increase sensitivity with results lasting up to a year. The cost of this procedure starts around $1000 and, unlike the other procedures we have discussed, the O-Shot has not been approved by the FDA.
The next treatment on our list has been coupled with the O Shot for maximum results. Although Emsella was created to treat urinary incontinence it was discovered to help with vaginal laxity and sexual function as well. This technology uses electromagnetic energy to treat the pelvic floor muscles emitting waves that are equivalent to 11,000 Kegels. As the pelvic floor muscles contract, the area is reconditioned and strengthened eliminating the symptoms of incontinence. During treatment you are fully clothed while sitting on a specialized chair for about 30 minutes. The service can cost between $2000-$3000, which includes the recommended six total sessions during a 3-week period (being treated twice a week) in order to achieve optimal results. Patients report seeing results right away, though it may take a few weeks to experience the full benefits. During the treatment you may experience some tingling and muscle contractions but no serious discomfort. Since there is virtually no downtime required, post-treatment you may resume normal activities. Temporary muscle soreness, similar to a workout, has been experienced as a side effect. Not only does Emsella treat urinary incontinence issues, help with sexual dysfunction, increase arousal and natural lubrication, and improve orgasms for women, but men also benefit from this technology as it targets the pelvic floor area to improve bladder control and erections. The pelvic floor is not a respecter of person and is an important muscle in both male and female. Yes ladies, gently pass this info to the men in your lives as they should not be suffering in silence either.
Age, weight gain, stress, medications, and hormones can all affect blood flow to the genitals, tissue integrity, tendons, and organ function. As mentioned before, technology is ever evolving where procedures that once required surgery are now simpler yielding the same results in little to no downtime. Changes we may face are not a question of virility nor a measure of femininity, but a seasonal journey one takes at some part of life. Now there’s assistance on that voyage.
